Trying something new or old...

Over the years I've had many different interests and hobbies.  Some I dabbled in for a little while, like knitting and cross-stitch, and running.  But others I've stuck with for years, like photography, and scrapbooking :)  I have fallen into other ventures by fate and self-education, like  natural health alternatives and gluten free cooking!  There are different seasons for each one of these pursuits, but some have stood the test of time, and my limited attention span, for good reasons.

I love my family, all those near and far, and can think of no better way to preserve the memories of times together than with photos and journaling.  I love being able to look back at those photos and recapture the memories that would have been lost otherwise.  I also love sharing and helping the ones I love, family and friends, in any way I possibly can.  So when I find something that is simple and works, I like to share it.

When my kids were little, I looked into and learned as much as I could about natural alternatives to medications and cleaning products, along with better nutrition, and alternatives to traditional education.  I like to do things differently and find a better, more personalized way of doing day to day life.  As fate would have it we ended up using all those skills at one point or another in our family life. We used western medicine along with non-traditional schooling, modified healthy diets, essential oils, massage, chiropractic care, physical activities, and lots of prayer to address ADHD, Celiac disease, multiple environmental and food allergies and asthma, skin conditions, kidney issues, growing pains, grief,.. you name it.

Now that the kids are grown I have a bit more time to invest in learning and keeping up with advances in nutrition and natural healing and I have rediscovered essential oils as a first line of prevention, health maintenance and relief for many ailments.  I am excited by all the research that is being done and the general movement that I see of people trying to eat healthier and taking responsibility of their health and trying natural, time tested remedies before reaching for a pill to mask the symptoms their bodies are exhibiting.

A few months ago, my sister asked me my opinion on essential oils and using them to help her pre-teen daughter with her food allergies, digestive issues and frequent colds. So all my old aromatherapy and natural healing books came out, and the re-learning began.  She came across this company and we've been learning and trying new things with essential oils and blends.

It is SO EXCITING to see an improvement in our health challenges so fast. So far I have used pure essential oils for headaches, stomach issues, diverticulitis pain, joint aches, sinus pressure, ear pain, allergy symptoms, wound care, skin care, to help me sleep, to help me wake up, to repel bugs outside and inside the house, to keep ants out of the house, to control pests in the garden, to heal one of our dog's multiple skin and ear and eye issues, to repel ticks and fleas, to clean bathrooms and the kitchen, to deodorize the house, to cook,...

I find myself continuously reaching for oils instead of my well stocked medicine cabinet. So I became a member of doTerra so I could purchase the oils I am using anyway at a wholesale price.

You should only use essential oils that are are guaranteed to be 100% pure and natural and free of synthetic compounds or contaminates. That are subjected to rigorous mass spectrometry and gas chromatography testing to ensure extract composition and activity.

If you are interested in purchasing oils or learning about essential oils and how to incorporate them into your quest for a healthy life let me know, I'll be glad to share.
